MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday, with Kyle Curtin ’26 earning conference Goaltender of the Week honors after picking up a pair of NEHC wins between the pipes this past weekend.
The St. George, Ontario native improved his record to 5-1 on the season while making 53 saves on his 54 shots faced while as a team, Elmia outscored its opponents 12-1 on the weekend.
On Friday, Curtin recorded 22 saves in the Soaring Eagles’ 4-1 win over #15 ranked Skidmore at the Murray Athletic Center. The goal allowed came in the first minute of the third period off a shot that looked to be going wide before Connor Wood was able to get just enough stick on the puck to redirect the other way for the Thoroughbreds.
Saturday, Curtin was phenomenal in net, picking up his first collegiate shutout over Castleton in Elmira’s 8-0 win in its annual Teddy Bear Toss game. On the evening, Curtin was able to make 33 saves which decreased his goals against average mark to 1.51, while increasing his save percentage to .953.
The Soaring Eagles will take a break before returning to the ice on December 30 against Salve Regina at First Arena as part of the Hockey Helpers Shootout games. EC will then take on Colby College just a day later, which will also be played at First Arena in downtown Elmira.
