The Laval Rocket have signed defenseman Zack Hayes to a one-year deal, it was announced this past week.
Hailing from Calgary, Alta., Hayes spent this past season playing for Sport in Liiga, posting one goal and eight assists for nine points in 53 regular season games. He also got into two playoff games but was held pointless.
Before heading overseas last season, Hayes played parts of three seasons in the AHL since turning pro in 2020-21. Across that time, he suited up for the Henderson Silver Knights, Chicago Wolves and Utica Comets.
Hayes also got into three NHL regular season games with the Vegas Golden Knights during the 2021-22 season but went pointless.
With Hayes heading to Laval, he will have the opportunity to play. Although his offensive stats don’t jump off the page, Hayes knows how to play the body and will use that to his advantage to shut down the opposing teams’ offensive attack.
