Celebrini is a Vancouver native, and growing up, he was a Vancouver Canucks fan. The Canucks play in Rogers Arena, where Celebrini said he can’t wait to play an NHL game there.
“Yeah, [it sticks out] a little bit,” Celebrini said. “It’ll be cool to play there.”
Rogers Arena holds a special place for the center, as his dad worked for the Canucks during his childhood, allowing him to be around the facility and even skate on the ice from time to time. He said playing an NHL game will be extra special than any other time he’d skated on the Rogers Arena ice.
“My dad worked there for four years, so I was able to go into the facility and skate on the ice a bunch of days,” Celebrini explained. “To play an NHL game there is pretty cool.”
He did say he is excited to play at other arenas, such as Madison Square Garden and TD Garden, which he’s already played in during his time at BU, and the Bell Centre in Montreal.
The 2024 No. 1 pick said he expects to have a lot of friends and family in attendance for his NHL debut tomorrow.
