Michigan hockey’s Gavin Brindley picked in Round 2 by Columbus Blue Jackets in NHL draft

Michigan hockey is now becoming a pipeline for one NHL team in the 2023 NHL draft.

And of all places.

Gavin Brindley, the freshman forward who scored 12 goals and 38 points for a Frozen Four team, was picked with the second choice of the second round, 34th overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday morning.

Adam Fantilli, the fellow Michigan freshman forward who won the Hobey Baker Award last season, was the third overall pick, also by Columbus.

Brindley, the 5-foot-9, 170-pounder from Estero, Florida, is a right-handed shot who had two multi-goal games for the Wolverines last season, including a two-goal, two-assist night against Wisconsin on Feb. 3.
