Morgan Mordini Named New England Hockey Conference Player of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday, with forward Morgan Mordini ’22 earning Player of the Week accolades for Women’s Ice Hockey.

The North Attleboro, Massachusetts native tallied the eventual game-winning goal for the Soaring Eagles on Saturday as No. 11 Elmira would go on to defeat No. 8 Norwich 3-1 to secure its second straight NEHC regular season title.

Mordini notched four points on the week for the Purple & Gold as Elmira completed its second undefeated regular season in NEHC action with a 17-0-0 record. Mordini recorded an assist on Friday night as Elmira rolled to an 8-1 victory against New England College.
She closed the week by tallying a pair of goals to go along with one assist in a 3-1 win over Norwich on Saturday. Mordini scored both of her goals in the second period, including the game-winner on the power-play with five minutes left in the frame.

This is the first NEHC weekly accolade for Mordini, who was named to the 2021-22 All-NEHC Second Team while also garnering 2021-22 NEHC All-Tournament Team and All-Academic honors for the Soaring Eagles.

The Soaring Eagles (19-5-0, 17-0-0 NEHC) secured the overall No. 1 seed for the upcoming NEHC Tournament and will host No. 8 seed Salem State in a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, February 18 at the Murray Athletic Center Beginning at 3:00 P.M.
