BOSTON, MA – (February 7, 2023) – The Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced its Three Stars of the Week following action played February 3-6, 2023. Top performers include Boston’s Loren Gabel, Toronto Six captain Shiann Darkangelo, and Pride goaltender Corinne Schroeder.

First Star: Loren Gabel led all PHF skaters with seven points in two weekend games scoring three goals and four assists. Her offensive production began with a goal and two assists including one primary and one secondary helper in Boston’s 5-0 win over the Riveters on Saturday. She then added a pair of goals including the opening tally and the game-winner plus two primary assists as the Pride defeated the Whale 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old from Kitchener, Ontario leads the PHF with 31 points, ranks first with 17 goals, and is tied for first with 14 assists in 24 games. She’s now scored goals in four-straight games, has eight multi-point performances, and leads the PHF with 95 shots on goal. In just her first PHF season, Gabel is also on pace to become just the third player in PHF history to finish a year with a points-per-game average of 2.0 or more. The two-time NCAA champion and 2019 Patty Kazmaier Award winner from Clarkson University added PHF All-Star MVP to her list of achievements on Jan. 29 in Toronto, leading PHF Team Canada with three goals and one assist in three showcase games. This marks her fourth recognition among the league’s weekly three stars and second-straight time with top honors.

Second Star: Shiann Darkangelo scored three goals and one assist for four points in two games, leading Toronto to a weekend sweep over Buffalo on home ice. She potted the team’s first two tucks in Saturday’s 3-0 victory for her first multi-goal game of the season, then recorded another game-winner on Sunday along with a primary assist in the 7-2 win for her third multi-point result of the campaign. The 29-year-old from Brighton, MI currently ranks third in T6 scoring with 16 points in 16 games including seven goals and nine assists. She ranks first across the PHF with 224 faceoff wins and carries an overall efficiency of .609 at the dot. Darkangelo is currently in the midst of her third season with T6 and fifth in the PHF where she has climbed into ninth in all-time scoring with 64 points including 32 goals and 32 assists in 71 career games. She recently competed with PHF Team USA in her fourth All-Star showcase. This is the second time this season she’s received second star recognition for her weekend efforts.

Third Star: Corinne Schroeder backstopped Boston to both weekend wins, helping the Pride maintain first place in the PHF’s overall standings with 14 wins and 40 points. The 23-year-old from Elm Creek, Manitoba turned aside 82 of 84 shots faced in total for a .976 save percentage. She made 34 saves in a 3-0 victory over the Riveters on Saturday night for her seventh shutout of the year, building upon the single season record she established back in December. She also stopped 48 shots on Sunday to secure a 5-2 win against Connecticut. Schroeder has started all 17 of Boston’s games to launch her professional career and leads the PHF in all goaltending statistical categories including goals-against-average with a mark of 1.64 and save percentage at .955. The Quinnipiac University graduate is also a PHF All-Star who represented Canada and was named Top Goaltender in the 2023 showcase event in Toronto.
