Week three action across the Premier Hockey Federation wrapped up with a pair of games on Sunday that earned both visiting teams series splits. Here’s a closer look at the highlights:
Toronto Six 7, Boston Pride 3
Toronto broke a 3-3 tie with four unanswered goals to give Boston their first loss of the season. Brittany Howard scored twice including her league-leading seventh of the campaign which held as the game-winner. Michela Cava scored her first two of the season, Leah Lum got her fourth, and both Dominika Laskova and Lexi Templeman produced their first career PHF goals. The Pride initially battled back from being down 3-0 with goals from Loren Gabel, Christina Putigna, and Allie Thunstrom with the 50th of her career. Corinne Schroeder was pulled after the first three T6 goals on 19 shots, giving Lovisa Selander her first action of the season. She took the loss surrendering four on 26 shots, while Elaine Chuli picked up the win with 30 saves.
Metropolitan Riveters 3, Montreal Force 2
A day following the Force’s historic Montreal debut and victory, it was the Riveters who went home happy. Kelly Babstock scored the decisive goal inside the final minute of regulation to give her team their second win of the season. Madison Packer joined Babstock with her third goal of the season, and Fanni Gasparics scored for the second straight game. Brooke Stacey opened the scoring with her first for Montreal, and newcomer Christine Deaudelin tied the game late from the point with her first in the PHF. Shots were 27-27 as Eveliina Makinen picked up her first career win in her Riveters debut over Marie-Soleil Deschenes.
