GORHAM, ME. – Despite a pair of goals from defenseman Nick Parody ’23, the Elmira College men’s ice hockey team would come up short on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Huskies from Southern Maine, 4-3.
The Huskies would use a pair of power-play goals, along with a 4-0 lead to begin the game en route to victory. After falling behind 4-0, the Soaring Eagles would respond with a pair of goals nearing the end of the second period which cut the USM lead to just a pair. After Parody scored the first goal at the 17:07 mark in the second on assists from Chance Gorman ’24 and Brendan Schultz ’24, it would be Tyler Schwindt ’26 who would score just 20 seconds later to cut the Elmira deficit in half. On Schwindt’s goal, Nathan Young ’25 and Cole Tucker ’25 would be credited with assists.
Elmira would hold Southern Maine off the scoreboard in the third period, while Parody scored a goal at the 3:31 mark on assists from Tucker and Amedeo Mastrangeli ’24. The final 16 minutes of play would go scoreless, while USM went on to skate to a 4-3 victory.
Jeffrey Zero ’23 would allow four goals in 40:00 of play, making 19 saves before being relieved by Brody Haynes ’26 in the third period. Haynes would make five saves, allowing no goals over 19:16 minutes of play.
