The Pittsburgh Penguins surrendered six goals on 12 shots to the Dallas Stars in the first period of their contest on Monday night.
Even though the hometown fans let the team know how they felt at the buzzer, it’s not the first time in franchise history that they gave up six goals in 20 minutes, and it’s not even a club record.
On Mar. 22, 1984, the Penguins gave up seven goals in the third period in a 13-4 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. A year later, on Mar. 10, 1985, the Flyers did it again, scoring seven in the second period en route to an 11-4 win.
After those blowout losses, Pittsburgh has given up six goals in a single period on 14 other occasions, not including the game against the Stars:
