FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed defenseman Gavin White to a three-year entry-level contract.
White, 20, has split the 2022-23 season with the Hamilton Bulldogs and Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), posting 37 points (10-27–37) in 42 regular-season contests. He recorded 22 points (7-15–22) in 22 games with the Bulldogs and has 15 points (3-12–15) in 20 contests with the Petes, who acquired him on Jan. 7.
Selected by Dallas in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft, the 6-foot, 185-pound blueliner helped lead the Bulldogs to the championship game of the Memorial Cup in 2022. The native of Brockville, Ontario recorded nine points (2-7–9) in 19 postseason contests during that run, including the overtime-winning goal in Game 4 of the OHL championship vs. Windsor, a series the Bulldogs would win in seven games.
In his first full OHL season in 2021-22 with Hamilton, White ranked fifth among league defensemen in assists (46), eighth in points (10-46–56) and shared sixth among all skaters in plus-minus (+35).
