ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College women’s ice hockey program will travel to Cortland on Wednesday as the Soaring Eagles face the Red Dragons in the First Round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Championship. Important information regarding tickets for the game can be found below.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Tickets will be available for purchase at Alumni Arena one hour before puck drop at 6:00 P.M.
  • All ticket sales will be CASH ONLY and will be sold at the door.
  • Ticket prices will be – $6 for adults, $4 for children (5-17), college students with ID, and seniors 65 and older.

GAME PREVIEW:

  • The Elmira College women’s ice hockey program makes its 18th NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament appearance and first, since the 2021-22 season as the Soaring Eagles travel to Cortland on Wednesday for a meeting with the Red Dragons inside Alumni Arena.
  • This will be the third meeting this season between the Soaring Eagles and Red Dragons as both sides split the regular season series. Elmira recorded a 3-0 victory at home on November 21st against the Red Dragons, while Cortland notched a 2-1 victory at Alumni Arena on January 16th.
  • Elmira secured its auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament following a 2-0 shutout at home against the Southern Maine Huskies as the Purple & Gold captured their second NEHC Championship Title. Holley Riva ’23 scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 3:31 mark of the second period to break a scoreless tie.
  • Wednesday will mark Elmira’s 36th contest in the NCAA Tournament as the Soaring Eagles have compiled an overall record of 21-14 through 35 games. Since the inaugural 2001-02 season, the Purple & Gold have advanced to the championship game seven times to go along with three national championships in 2001-02, 2002-03, and 2012-13.
  • Cortland is making its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament after earning the auto-bid following a 2-1 victory in overtime against Plattsburgh in the inaugural SUNYAC championship game. The Red Dragons matched a program record with their 20th victory of the season after finishing the 2022-23 campaign with a 20-7 record.  
  • The Red Dragons advanced to the SUNYAC championship game after defeating Oswego at home in the semifinals on February 24th. Cortland is 4-3-1 this season against ranked opponents with two wins against Plattsburgh and one win each against Elmira and Nazareth. The Red Dragons also played to a tie against nationally ranked Hamilton earlier this season.
