The club under head coach Lindy Ruff has adopted an attitude of more accountability in hopes of snapping their 13-year Stanley Cup Playoff drought, but betting prognosticators are skeptical that they can accomplish their goal.

The Sabres over/under is 88.5 points according to DraftKings Sportsbook, a number slightly below the team’s total that ended up in the final Eastern Conference playoff spot the last two seasons. Florida finished the 2022-23 season with 92 points, while Washington ended last season with 91 points.

The betting line that Buffalo will make the playoffs in the Eastern Conference is +155, the same odds as the Capitals. Only Detroit (+180), Philadelphia (+220), Montreal (+750), and Columbus (+1500). The odds are considerably longer (-190) that the Sabres will miss the postseason for the 14th straight year.
The odds of the Sabres winning the Atlantic Division are +1600, ahead of only the Red Wings (+2000) and Canadiens (+8000). Florida and Toronto are considered the co-favorites to take the division title at +230.
