SALEM, MASS. – Holley Riva ’23 scored 12 minutes into the first period, while five different Soaring Eagles registered a goal as the No. 12 Elmira College women’s ice hockey program recorded a 6-0 shutout against Salem State University on Saturday in NEHC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Soaring Eagles would get onto the scoreboard first in the contest as Anna Lugge ’27 set up Holley Riva ’23 at the 11:56 mark of the opening frame to give the Purple & Gold a 1-0 advantage.
- Alayna Toole ’26 added to Elmira’s lead at the 16:27 mark of the first period as her goal would make it 2-0. Sabrina Shvartsman ’25 and Piper Andrews ’26 were credited with the assists for EC.
- Elmira would add four goals in the second period including a pair of power-play goals as Andrews made it 3-0 at the 9:50 mark, while MK Boyle ’26 netted an unassisted tally to make it 4-0 in favor of the Purple & Gold.
- With the extra skater advantage, Erika Goleniak ’25 found the back of the net at the 14:31 mark to make it 5-0 as Boyle would be credited with the assist. EC netted its second power-play tally at the 15:52 mark as Claire Meeder increased the advantage to 6-0 with Emma Bradbury ’26 notching the assist.
- Between the pipes for the Soaring Eagles, Leonie-Louise Kuehberger ’25 stopped 10 shots to record her fifth shutout of the season. The shutout gives Kuehberger 22 for her career with the Purple & Gold, matching Allison Cubberley ’09 and Lauren Sullivan ’13 for the program’s all-time record.
