WINDSOR, ON – The Windsor Spitfires are excited to announce Casey Torres as assistant coach which will round out our coaching staff for the 2023-24 season. Torres is a native of Kingston, Ontario and he joins the Spitfires from the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League.
Torres has a vast amount of hockey operations experiences including his most recent role as assistant coach and player development assistant with the Hartford Wolfpack. From 2016-2021, Torres was an amateur scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins. From 2014-2016, Torres was an OHL eastern conference scout with the Peterborough Petes. In 2013, Casey created his own business with the Torres Hockey program that specializes in skating and skill development. Casey also held roles with the Kingston Voyageurs and Frontenacs.
Coach Torres spoke on coming to Windsor.
“I’m excited for this opportunity.” Torres started. “I am looking forward to getting down to Windsor and meeting everyone. The people I have spoke to over the phone were first class and I am thrilled to work with great organization, great management and continue the great success of the team.”
General Manager Bill Bowler spoke on the hiring of Casey Torres.
“The Spitfires are proud to announce our new assistant coach, Casey Torres.” General Manager Bill Bowler said. “Casey’s skills as a coach and his commitment to player development will compliment head coach Jerrod and our current staff. His hockey background will bring a perspective that will benefit our entire hockey department.”
Head Coach Jerrod Smith spoke on the addition of Casey to his staff.
“I want to welcome Casey and his family to the Spitfires.” Smith said. “I’m excited to get to work with Casey and get him acclimated with the rest of our staff. He brings knowledge, experience and has worked in many different capacities which will continue to help our group develop.”
