Game number 64 for the Sarnia Sting on the 2023-24 OHL scheduled is set for Saturday night in Sarnia. The surging Sting will look to continue their winning ways against the visiting Kingston Frontenacs when the puck drops for 7:05pm.

Prior to this game the Sting will celebrate a broadcasting milestone as Sarnia Native and voice of the Sting on the radio, Leigh Cunningham goes on air for career game number 1,500.

Graduating from Fanshawe College in 1991 with a degree in broadcast- journalism, Cunningham began his hockey broadcasting career  in 1998 with the London Knights. The veteran OHL broadcaster and current radio voice of the Sting spent time calling games for the Knights, Sarnia Sting, North Bay Centennials, Windsor Spitfires and Saginaw Spirit for sixteen seasons between 1998-2014.

In 2015, Cunningham returned home to Sarnia to take the Sting play by play position with Blackburn Media’s CHOK station and has continued to captivate his listeners with his vibrant descriptions of the on-ice action.

“The Sarnia Sting and Ontario Hockey League are driven by amazing, dedicated people with a love and passion for the game like no other, Leigh exemplifies that in every way. His passion can be felt through every call and we look forward to recognizing him and this accomplishment Saturday night.” Comments Sting Director of Marketing Jake Bourrie

“The Sting are incredibly fortunate to have many people who have supported this club on and off the air for a very long time. This passion and  commitment is what drives junior hockey and the communities it lives in. We want to take a moment to thank everyone who continues to support along the way, whether it’s game 1 or game 1501. – Thank you.”  Bourrie adds.

Fans looking to take in the action Saturday night in Sarnia can still do so by securing their seats here or by visiting the Mainstreet Credit Union Sting Box Office during box Office hours.
