Trading Cody Ceci to San Jose in NHL 24

by admin

Another entry into the NHL 24 trade simulator, today we are looking at the second trade the Edmonton Oilers made on Sunday, Cody Ceci and a third round pick to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Ty Emberson.

The Oilers attached the draft pick in order to shed Ceci’s $3.25 million salary and give themselves as much cap space as possible to deal with the offer sheets to Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg.

Emberson played 30 games for San Jose last season and had promising results in the AHL when he played for current Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch in Hartford.

The consensus among fans seems to be that the Sharks should have held out for a higher return based on Edmonton’s dire situation.

Edmonton was totally unwilling to do the deal in NHL 24 when proposed we sent the offer as San Jose. We also tried to trade Emberson for Ceci straight up and were denied.

On the other hand, San Jose was extremely willing to do the trade and accepted Ceci and the draft pick with no hesitation.

NHL 24 certainly thinks the Sharks won this trade as Ceci is rated as a Top 4 defenseman and Emberson is only 77 overall.
