Former Oilers Forward On Fantastic Streak

by admin

You just can’t stop Dylan Holloway.

Already in the midst of a huge breakout season in his first year with the St. Louis Blues, the former Oiler had a night to remember on Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks.

Holloway got things started early, finding rookie Zachary Bolduc for a one-timer that tied the game at 1 halfway through the first. That assist extended Holloway’s point streak to seven games.

The game blossomed into a back-and-forth affair that saw the Blues blow a 3-1 second-period lead. Fellow Alberta boy Jake DeBrusk came up clutch for Vancouver, scoring the game-tying goal in the dying minutes of regulation to send the game to overtime.

Then it was time for Holloway to play the hero.

It took fewer than two minutes for the Blues to strike, as Holloway rushed down the wing to roof the puck past Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko in his first start of the year to send the Blues home with an overtime winner.

With that goal, his 10th on the year, Holloway now has more points in 29 games as a Blue (19) than in 89 games with the Oilers (18). He remains tied with Jordan Kyrou for the Blues’ goal-scoring lead, while he’s racked up 6 goals and 11 points on his 7-game point streak.

All in all, pretty impressive stuff for a guy who’s been moved all over the Blues’ lineup to start the year, not spending more than 45 minutes with any two players. Oiler fans got their first look at him in double blue and yellow on Saturday, when he notched one goal on five shots and was St. Louis’ most dangerous player for most of the night.

The Oilers will get their next look at Holloway and the Blues on February 4th, when they visit St. Louis for the only time this season.
