Things are not going well for the Buffalo Sabres right now. They are currently on a seven-game losing streak and are tied at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings with the Montreal Canadiens.

With it only being mid-December, there is still time for the Sabres to turn things around. However, if they continue to trend in this direction and find themselves out of the playoff race nearing the deadline, we could see them becoming sellers.

If the Sabres end up being sellers, one player who could become a very popular trade target around the NHL is forward Jason Zucker.

Zucker, 32, is a pending unrestricted free agent who is having a strong season with the Sabres. The veteran winger currently has seven goals, 20 points, and a plus-4 rating in 28 contests. This includes scoring two goals and adding an assist in Buffalo’s latest contest against the Detroit Red Wings.

Given Zucker’s strong season and overall experience, he could generate plenty of interest from playoff clubs if he becomes available later this season. However, if the Sabres turn their campaign around and end up being in the post-season hunt, Zucker should be somebody they keep around.
