Mikael Granlund, who played with the Pittsburgh Penguins for 21 games in 2022-23, is the leading scorer on the rebuilding San Jose Sharks with 14 points in 13 games.
The 32-year-old from Oulu, Finland, has six goals and eight assists and is tied for 21st among NHL scorers with future Hall of Famers like Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, and Evgeni Malkin.
Granlund is an alternate captain with the Sharks, who remain at the bottom of the NHL standings with a 3-8-2 record. They were the last team to win this season.
The former first-rounder (9th overall, 2010) is in his second season with San Jose and was the club’s leading scorer with 60 points in 69 games in 2023-24.

His totals last year would have made him the third highest-scoring player in the Penguins lineup, behind Crosby (94) and Malkin (67). Meanwhile, he’d be tied for first this year while sharing the team’s goal lead with Rickard Rakell.
Granlund’s 13-year NHL career also includes playing in Minnesota and Nashville. He’s scored 163 goals and 558 points in 832 games.
