MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. — The rash of injuries has seemingly ravaged the St. Louis Blues locker room in the early portion of the season.
And in the light of the good news that Dylan Holloway will not join that group following an injury scare of his own on Tuesday in a 3-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Mathieu Joseph is on the cusp of rejoining the healthy skaters on ice.
The veteran forward was back on the ice for practice Wednesday after missing the past four games with a lower-body injury. He was injured late in the third period of a 5-2 loss against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 26.
Joseph, who has four points (two goals, two assists) in nine games, is unlikely to play Thursday against the Utah Hockey Club.
“He looked OK, he looked a little bit tender, but he was pushing through it,” Blues coach Drew Bannister said of Joseph. “… Today, we didn’t do a lot of contact, which were more flow drills, but I think for him, we’re kind of at a day to day thing. I think it’ll happen quicker. I think it’s just get on the ice, you start feeling good and you kind of push through some of the pain that you have. I think that’s what we’ve just go to get him to a point.”
The Blues are also playing without center Robert Thomas (ankle), defenseman Nick Leddy (lower body) and defenseman Philip Broberg (knee).
