Through a statement on Sunday, the Colorado Avalanche said they are working with St. Louis police to investigate alleged threats towards forward Nazem Kadri.
This comes after Kadri was involved in a collision that injured St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington. Binnington is out for the rest of the series with a lower-body injury.
âThe Avalanche organization is aware of threats made toward Nazem Kadri and is working with local law enforcement to investigate,â the team said in a statement on Sunday.
âWe take threats made to any of our Players or other Club personnel seriously,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement tweeted out by Darren Drager. “We are in touch with St. Louis Police Department and they are employing enhanced security procedures both at the arena and in the hotelâ.
Former Calgary Flames player Akim Aliu tweeted about the incident, saying he talked with Kadri and that the Avalanche forward received racist threats as a result of in the incident.
The Avalanche and Blues are set to play Game 4 tonight in St. Louis. The Avalanche hold a 2-1 series lead.
