Matty Beniers was excited to speak to the local media this morning at the Kraken’s practice facility about his 7-year, $50 million contract extension.

“It’s an unbelievable deal, and now I just get to play hockey!” Now that Beniers has secured his extension, the 6’2″, 178 lb left-handed center is focusing on his health and fitness ahead of the team’s first training camp. The first item on his to-do list is increasing his caloric intake and gaining more weight.
Beniers is looking forward to working with the rookies at training camp and welcoming his new teammates Chandler Stephenson and Brandon Montour. “All of them seem like great guys, from what I’ve heard, and a perfect fit for our group.”
