Bradbury Nets Two Third-Period Goals as Soaring Eagles Down Herons 3-1

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. – Emma Bradbury ’26 broke a 1-1 tie in the third period while adding a second goal for insurance as the Elmira College women’s ice hockey program defeated the William Smith College Herons on Saturday night 3-1 in New England Hockey Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Elmira would get an early power play opportunity in the contest as the Herons would head to the penalty box just 50 seconds into the first period. The Soaring Eagles tallied three shots on goal with the extra skater but were unable to find the back of the net.
  • The first period would end in a scoreless draw for both sides as the Purple & Gold held an 18-5 advantage in shots on goal with Annie Hauser denying several good opportunities for Elmira.
  • Anna Lugge ’27 netted her seventh goal of the season at the 13:12 mark of the second period to put the Soaring Eagles ahead 1-0 as Emily Lenzen ’24 and Erika Goleniak ’25 helped to set up the goal. EC would successfully kill a pair of power play opportunities for the Herons in the frame while missing out on an extra-skater opportunity midway through the frame.
  • Willam Smith would eventually find the equalizer just over five minutes into the third period as Grace Romeo found Emma Faso alone in front of the net to beat Elmira goalkeeper Leonie-Louise Kuehberger ’25.
  • The 1-1 score would hold until Emma Bradbury ’26 beat Hauser off a face-off that would be won by Lenzen at the 6:20 mark of the third period. Bradbury notched her second goal of the night at the 12:51 mark to push the Elmira advantage to 3-1 as Lugge and Mo McBride ’27 would add the assists.
  • Despite allowing one goal on the night, Kuehberger made several huge saves in the third period to backstop the Soaring Eagles to victory. Kuehberger made 13 saves in the final frame and finished with 25 on the night, while Hauser made 47 saves on 50 shots in goal for the Herons.
