MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly awards for games played through Sunday, January 22nd. Elmira College’s Chance Gorman ’24 (Flemington, N.J.) was selected as Player of the Week. Skidmore College’s Tate Brandon (Irvington, N.Y.) earned Goaltender of the Week honors while Babson College’s Ryan Murphy (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) garnered Rookie of the Week honors.

After being shut out by the Statesmen on Friday evening, Gorman played an instrumental role in helping the Soaring Eagles celebrate 50 Years of hockey at Elmira College with a four-goal performance. Gorman, who had never recorded a hat trick in his career, scored his fourth goal of the evening on an empty-netter, assisted by goaltender Kyle Curtin ’26.

In Elmira’s 7-5 victory over No. 1 nationally-ranked Hobart, Gorman scored his teams’ 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 7th goals. For the game, Gorman only placed six shots on net and now leads the Soaring Eagles with 11 goals for the 2022-23 campaign.
