Former New Jersey Devils forward Wayne Simmonds has landed a job with the Philadelphia Flyers, however, this time off the ice.
He will be taking on the role as community relations ambassador and hockey operations consultant.
The Flyers announced it on their Twitter/X account later Friday afternoon.
The Scarborough, Ontario, native played 15 seasons in the NHL. Eight of those were spent with the Flyers. He also spent time with the aforementioned Devils, Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, Buffalo Sabres, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Over those 15 seasons, he played in 1,037 regular-season games; he tallied 263 goals and 263 assists for 526 points.
Simmonds called it quits on March 18th, 2024, after signing a one-day contract with the Flyers, which felt like the most suitable way for him to retire from the NHL.
At 36, he will now transition into his next chapter of his hockey career: working in the front office.
