Air Corgi Has The Lightning Beating the Avalanche in Six Games
If you’re an avid social media user, there’s a strong chance you’ve come across an adorable dog named Steph Furry, better known as Air Corgi.
The corgi has been making headlines on TikTok for making predictions of various series from around the sports world, including the Stanley Cup playoffs.
For the Stanley Cup final, Steph picked Tampa Bay to beat Colorado in six games in the latest video.
Even though the Lightning are 0-2, if these predictions are any indication, this series is far from over, according to one four-legged prognosticator.
NHL Honors the Legacy of Charlie Lightfoot
Since 2020, the NHL and its team have honored Juneteenth, the U.S. federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved Black people.
This Juneteenth saw the league honor one of the first black players in organized hockey, Charlie Lightfoot. Lightfoot was a native of Stratford, Ontario and a member of the 1900 OHA Junior Championship.
It’s a good thing when stories like these are brought to the forefront and no longer ignored in the hockey world.
A Memorial Cup Tradition Returns
For the first time since 2019, the Memorial Cup tournament will be played, an event that hasn’t been held for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the return of the tournament comes the return of the host team playing their first game in a commemorative jersey. On Sunday, the Saint John Sea Dogs unveiled what may be one of the best jerseys we’ve seen in a long time.
The Sea Dogs jersey crest is based on the HMCS Brunswicker badge and the colors honor the legacy of the AHL’s Saint John Flames, who played from 1993-2003.
It’s going to be hard for future hosts to top what the Sea Dogs are breaking out this week.
