Black Ice thrives at TIFF, Goat Head pancakes are a thing and Eli Manning’s Hockey dad days include forgetting a helmet. Here’s a look at some of the best moments from the past week.
Black Ice Is A Hit With Viewers
This past week, Black Ice, the documentary that examines the role of anti-black racism in hockey and the role Black players have played in the sport, made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival with three showings.
The film stars the likes of Akim Aliu, Nazem Kadri, Saroya Tinker, Sarah Nurse, Wayne Simmonds, and others, with LeBron James and Drake serving as executive producers.
This past weekend, the film won the People’s Choice Documentary Award at TIFF.
It’s great seeing a hockey movie recognized at an event like this, and it’s a movie that every fan of the sport needs to watch when it gets a wider release.
Goat Head Pancakes Are Here
The Buffalo Sabres are bringing back the Goat Head logo back this season, but one TikTok user took the return of the logo to the next level with her pancakes.
Life is too short to eat bland foods, so why not spice them up? More breakfast dishes should be given the NHL logo treatment.
Eli Manning Is Embracing The Hockey Parent Life
A mention of Eli Manning, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer in The Hockey News? There’s a reason for this.
The now retired legendary Giants Quarterback has been fun to follow with brother and Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton on their Monday Night Football Manningcast feed.
Retirement has also involved Manning becoming a hockey dad, but making sure his kids always have helmets is clearly a work in progress.
Here’s to Eli hopefully not forgetting any more equipment for his daughter in the future.
