Well, that was a comeback for the ages.
On Wednesday night in D.C., the Leafs looked defeat right in the face, and said, “not tonight.”
What a victory!
Obviously, we were super jacked up on the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Personally, I can only wonder what the mood/vibe would’ve been had Toronto not come back and win. Thankfully, we’ll never know. To kick things off, we took a glance at the up-to-date Atlantic Division standings. Surprise, surprise, it’s still a dog fight.

After that, we got into the nuts and bolts of the crazy come-from-behind 4-3 OT victory. Once again, Matthew Knies stood out. That dude is a stallion —enough said. An absolute thoroughbred. He made so many monster plays, which in turn, led directly to the victory. Additionally, John Tavares and Mitch Marner really stood out. Plain and simple, the big boys won that game for Toronto. Over and above all that, it was a weird night for video reviews. That game dragged like crazy. We dove into all that for a considerable amount of time, too. Additionally, we gave some love for Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who got the win in game No. 1000 of his NHL career.
Then, brought to you by Charm Diamond Centres, TSN Hockey Analyst Jamie NOODLES McLennan stopped by for another visit. We got his thoughts on Knies, all the video reviews, Joseph Woll’s performance, and Max Domi’s recent struggles. As per usual, NOODLES was absolutely dialled in.
And so, through 18 games, the Leafs are 10-6-2. Coming up on the Friday edition of Leafs Morning Take, we’ll discuss Auston Matthews’ status and preview Saturday night’s home date with Connor McDavid and the Oilers.
