They lost, then they won.
What a rollercoaster of emotions it was at Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night as the Leafs got a much-needed 2-1 shootout victory against the Florida Panthers. Seriously, what a story Noah Gregor has become. Through 20 games, he’s probably been the most consistent pick up thus far for Brad Treliving and company.
All in all, it was a fun start to the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Firstly, we laughed about Rosey taking a big-time hit in a charity hockey game —with video evidence, to boot. After that, we discussed Sheldon Keefe blowing a gasket on the Maple Leafs bench. For my money, that was long overdue. Bottom line: There needs to be more accountability with this organization across the board. Also, it’s weird how Tyler Bertuzzi has almost become this year’s Michael Bunting for Keefe. He has his favourites, that’s for sure.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer offered an all-encompassing breakdown of the shootout victory. We talked everything from Noah Gregor to Joseph Woll’s phenomenal performance to the Mark Giordano injury. It was a very noteworthy night —lots happened. And again, it was a quiet night for the big boys —definitely something to document moving forward.
Meantime, brought to you by SOBER CARPENTER, the O-Dog Jeff O’Neill made his first ever appearance on the show. A lot of the conversation stemmed around Sheldon Keefe. Remarkably, Toronto’s taken a ridiculous EIGHT too many men penalties and it’s not even Christmas yet. It was a fun interview!
Lastly, thanks to Charm Diamond Centres, we discussed Corey Perry and if it makes any sense for the Leafs to target him —assuming the 38-year-old becomes a free agent in the not-too-distant future.
