Jeremy Roenick doesn’t think that the Leafs have good enough goaltending to win a Cup: Leafs Morning Take

by

Following a mini two game road trip, the Leafs are prepping for a Halloween clash on home ice with the Seattle Kraken.

We kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing a myriad of topics. Firstly, we feel like we got screwed. In case you missed it, the Kelce brothers were named People’s ‘sexiest podcast hosts’ of 2024. That’s an absolute joke. After that, yes, we did talk some Leafs, too. Once again, Sportico named the Leafs as the most valuable franchise in NHL for 2024, so we touched on that for a bit. Then, we gave our thoughts on Fraser Minten. The 20-year-old was activated over injured reserve on Tuesday and assigned to the Toronto Marlies. At some point this season, you would think that he would get a look with the Maple Leafs. We’ll see.

Courtesy Charm Diamond Centres, soon-to-be Hockey Hall of Famer Jeremy Roenick dropped by the show. As per usual, he was awesome. We talked about his upcoming speech, what it means to him to be entering the Hall, and obviously, we got his thoughts on the Leafs too. JR’s never short on opinion—that’s for sure.

Meantime, brought to you by Square, we debated who should start in goal against Seattle. For the record, we both agreed that it should be Joseph Woll. Of course, he made 22 stops in a 5-1 loss last Thursday night against St. Louis. Bottom line, he needs to start playing some games. All in all, it will be fascinating to see how Craig Berube deploys his goaltenders moving forward. Every game is so important. The Atlantic Division is so tight right now. Personally, I expect that to continue for the balance of the season.

At any rate, be sure to join us on Thursday at 11 AM ET as we tee up the Leafs/Kraken game. Also, we’ll play some Take It or Leaf It as well as answer the Great Clips inbox question of the week.
