Seems like the New Jersey Devils really like Jonas Siegenthaler.
The team announced they have signed Siegenthaler to a five-year contract worth $3.4-million per season, set to kick in for 2023-24.
Siegenthaler is in the final year of a two-year contract paying $1.125-million per season.
The Swiss defenseman spent most of his first three years with Washington before moving to New Jersey in 2021. He played 70 games this past year, scoring one goal and 14 points.
Siegenthaler, 25, is a solid defensive defenseman that showed some offensive flashes with Switzerland at the recent World Championship. Still, he’s known more for his shutdown and physical play, and on this deal, he’s a decent bargain for the Devils.
