Kings Have Interesting Target In Ex-Maple Leafs Forward

NHL training camps start in just a matter of days, which means NHL teams are looking for players to sign to PTO’s.

Often times, NHL teams sign a few veteran players to ensure that they meet the veteran requirement for preseason games.

For the Los Angeles Kings, they will easily be able to meet the veterans requirements. However, one player who they should consider bringing in on a PTO is Phil Kessel.

If the Kings aren’t going to re-sign Arthur Kaliyev, they will need someone who can score goals deeper in the lineup. Kessel can provide that for the Kings while also being an everyday player in the lineup.

Kessel, 36, is known for his Iron Man streak, which currently sits at 1,064 straight games.

On a recent episode of 32 Thoughts The Podcast, Elliotte Friedman talked about Kessel’s wanting to return to play for the 2024-25 season after failing to find a team to sign him in the 2023-24 season.

Kessel appeared in 1,286 career NHL games and scored 413 goals and 579 assists for 992 points while playing for the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Arizona Coyotes, and Golden Knights, where he won three Stanley Cups.
