The Seattle Kraken have signed defenseman Brogan Rafferty, goaltender Magnus Hellberg and forward Jesper Froden to free-agent contracts.

Rafferty spent the 2021-22 season with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, posting four goals and 20 assists for 24 points in 65 games.

As a rookie with the Utica Comets in 2019-20, Rafferty recorded seven goals and 38 assists for 45 points, earning a spot on the AHL All-Rookie Team and selection as a Second Team AHL All-Star. He also skated in the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic.

Rafferty has appeared in three career NHL games, all with Vancouver, notching one assist.

Hellberg, an AHL All-Star in 2015, has made 187 career AHL appearances with Hartford and Milwaukee, going 84-71-21 with a 2.49 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage and 14 shutouts. He has spent the last five seasons in the KHL, and represented Sweden at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

A second-round draft pick by Nashville in 2011, Hellberg has played five career NHL games with the Predators, the New York Rangers and Detroit, with a record of 2-0-0, a 2.81 GAA and an .869 save percentage.

Froden made his North American debut in 2021-22 and posted 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points in 49 games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins. He added one goal in seven outings in the NHL with Boston.

The Stockholm native played in the Swedish Hockey League with Skelleftea AIK from 2019-21.
