After announcing the promotion of Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser, Ryan Hardy, and Darryl Metcalf, as well as the hiring of Curtis Sanford earlier today, the Toronto Maple Leafs updated their management page and numerous interesting tidbits are there to be found.
Most notably, the Maple Leafs have brought in former NHLers Matt Moulson and Chris Bourque as scouts, as well as Viktor Alm.
Moulson joins Jackson Maxwell, Mike Penny, Richard Pollock, Jim Roque, and Tom Watt in the pro scouting department. The 38-year-old played 650 games in the NHL with his most productive seasons coming alongside none other than John Tavares. He had spent the past three seasons with the Hershey Bears in the AHL.
Bourque is also a recently retired player, having played in Germany for the past three seasons. A stellar AHL player who could never quite crack the NHL, Bourque appeared in 51 NHL games over his career. In the AHL, he scored 746 points in 794 games, ranking in the top 20 in all-time scoring in the league. He joins the amateur scouting department.
Alm, meanwhile, is currently a goaltending coach with HC Lugano in Switzerland. The 32-year-old Swede is a former professional goaltender himself and appears to be hired specifically to scout draft-eligible goaltenders.
In other changes, development associates T.J. Millar and Marian Agyei-Gyamera appear to be staying in the organization in coaching and management respectively. Both joined the Leafs last summer as part of the team’s development program.
Joe Underwood joins Darryl Belfry as a Player Development Consultant, while Jill Reiner joins the Hockey R&D department as a data analyst.
In terms of new departures, Greg Harden is no longer listed on the organization’s management page. Harden was brought in last summer as a Peak Performance Coach. Advisor Paul MacLean is also not listed as part of the coaching staff anymore.
Tony Martino, an amateur scout based in the United States, is no longer with the team as well. Martino had been with the Leafs since 2015.
Dr. Marie-Claire Bourque in Mental Health and Peak Performance and Charlie King, a video analyst, are no longer on the management page as well.
