Barrie, ON – The Barrie Colts are happy to announce the signing of 6-foot-4 goaltender Ben West.

West was originally drafted by the Erie Otters in the 10th round of the 2019 OHL Priority Selection. He was recently acquired by way of trade earlier this month from the Otters. Before joining, West was committed to playing at Union College (NCAA).

West played for the Navan Grads (CCHL) in the 2021-22 season where he appeared in 45 games posting a .899 SV% and 22 wins. He also appeared on NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm rankings for North American goalies.

“We’re really happy to add Ben to our team and that he’s decided to make this decision. He’s a big goalie who played a lot of games last year for the Navan Grads (CCHL). Our Goalie Coach, David Belitski, has a talent for finding and developing goalies and we’re looking forward to working with him. He made a big commitment to us by forgoing the NCAA and we believe he will be a big piece of the club moving forward,” commented Head Coach & GM Marty Williamson

West will be wearing #1 for the Colts.
