Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Domi is been ruled out of Wednesday’s game against the Nashville Predators, head coach Craig Berube confirmed via David Alter of The Hockey News.
Domi has missed Toronto’s past five games due to a lower-body injury but is eligible to return from injured reserve whenever he’s deemed ready. Berube indicated Tuesday that Domi was close to returning, and it’s possible he re-enters the lineup for Friday’s game against the Washington Capitals. Domi has recorded six assists in 19 games this season.
Pacioretty returned to practice Tuesday but was formally ruled out by Berube. The 36-year-old is currently on long-term injured reserve and as a result of the designation, is only eligible to return on December 7, when the Maple Leafs face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Pacioretty suffered the injury during a November 9 game against the Montreal Canadiens, where he grabbed the back of his leg after getting hit by Mike Matheson.
Domi and Pacioretty were wearing the grey jerseys in practice, alongside Alex Nylander, who projects to be a healthy scratch Wednesday. Ryan Reaves will return from his five-game suspension and it appears he’ll be placed alongside Connor Dewar and Nikita Grebenkin on a new-look fourth line. Reaves didn’t want to expand on the length of his suspension, but responded with an honest answer.
“I don’t want to get into that. I already told the kids that Christmas is cancelled. I don’t want to get fined again. It’s over. We’re just going to leave it at that,” Reaves said.
