BOSTON, MASS. – Mary McCafferty ’22 and Erika Goleniak ’25 both tallied a pair of goals and Leonie-Louise Kuehberger ’25 recorded a 16-save shutout as the No. 10 Elmira College women’s ice hockey program blanked UMass Boston 4-0 on Saturday in New England Hockey Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
McCafferty opened the scoring in the contest for the Soaring Eagles as she found the back of the net just over three minutes into the first period. Holley Riva ’23 and Morgan Mordini ’22 would both get credit for the assists on McCafferty’s first goal of the contest.
The Soaring Eagles would finally connect on the power play early in the second period as McCafferty once again found the back of the net to give the Purple & Gold a 2-0 advantage. It would be Riva and Mordini again recording the assists on McCafferty’s second tally of the contest.
Elmira would light the lamp three times in the third period as Riva pushed the advantage to 3-0 just 12 seconds after the puck was dropped, while Goleniak netted her first goal of the contest just 38 seconds later to make it 4-0 in favor of the Soaring Eagles.
Goleniak capped the scoring with a late power play tally for the Purple & Gold to make it 5-0 at the 19:32 mark. Madi Morton ’24 assisted on Goleniak’s first goal, while Emma Bradbury ’26 was credited with the assist on the power play tally.
The 16-save outing resulted in the seventh shutout of the season for Kuehberger and her 14th win of the season for the Soaring Eagles. Elmira held a 47-16 advantage in shots on goal while winning 37 faceoffs as a team.
