BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball, hockey, and tennis on Monday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Hamline, Saint Mary’s, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference’s weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference’s sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Transitioning from the winter to spring seasons, team sports (basketball, hockey, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

Raheem Anthony averaged a double-double of 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in the Cardinals’ 73-70 loss to Gustavus on 2/2 and SMU’s 77-64 victory over Bethel on 2/5. Anthony kicked off his week by scoring a team-high 23 points and adding 12 rebounds in the Cardinals’ three-point road loss to Gustavus. The junior went 8-of-19 from the field with one 3-pointer and finished 6-of-8 from the free-throw line while grabbing seven offensive rebounds and five defensive boards en route to his fourth double-double of the season. Three nights later, Anthony once again led the team in scoring with 22 points in the Cardinals’ 13-point victory over Bethel. He went 8-of-12 from the field and 6-for-8 from the line, just missing his second straight double-double by two rebounds, while chipping in seven assists.
MIAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

Hayden Glander led Bethel to wins over Saint Benedict (2/2) and Saint Mary’s (2/5), averaging 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds for the week. Against the Bennies, Glander posted her third double-double of the season with a career-high 27 points and 10 rebounds – nine of which came on the offensive end of the floor. In 26 minutes of action, she shot 44.4 percent from the floor and was 11-of-12 at the charity stripe. On 2/5 against the Cardinals, Glander added 16 points in 18 minutes while picking up two steals on the defensive end where the Royals held their opponent to a season-low 29 points and forced a season-high 34 turnovers.

Jack Bostedt went 3-0 in the net for the Saints this past week with back-to-back 33-save shutouts against Northland (2/2) and Bethel (2/4). In doing so, Bostedt became the first Saint since 2010 to post consecutive shutouts. Of the 86 shots he faced, only one power-play goal slipped past him in a 2-1 conference victory over Bethel on 2/5. Bostedt is now tied for fourth in all of NCAA Division III with a trio of shutouts on the season.
MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week

Sophie Rausch registered a pair of two-goal games for the Pipers in their weekend sweep of St. Olaf. Rausch had two goals on three shots in a 4-0 win at St. Olaf on 2/4 before notching two goals – one on a power play and one on an empty net – and an assist in a 5-1 home win on 2/5. She finished at +3 for the weekend.

Josh Janssen started the 2022 season with a 5-1 record in singles play and a 4-2 mark in doubles action, including a clean sweep in six matches over the Cardinals’ 3-0 weekend. Janssen tallied wins at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles against Ripon and Lawrence on 2/4 before closing out the weekend with a pair of victories in both slots at St. Norbert.

Julia Maier helped the Saints to a pair of team wins with victories at both No. 1 singles and doubles over the weekend. Maier battled to a 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 win at No. 1 singles against Minn.-Duluth on 2/4, helping St. Scholastica to a 5-4 match victory. She went on to log wins in both singles and doubles play against St. Norbert on 2/6, bringing her streak of victories at the top singles spot to five, dating back to last season.
