BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball and hockey on Monday. Student-athletes from Augsburg, Bethel, and Concordia claimed the Conference’s weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference’s sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

Dylan Inniger broke the program record for points in a single game when he scored 30 points in the Cobbers’ 17-point win over St. Olaf on 1/6. Inniger then put up 17 points in a win over St. Scholastica on 1/8. He shot 63.6 percent from 3-point range and 66.7 percent from the floor in helping Concordia post back-to-back wins.
MIAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

Makenna Pearson led the Royals to a pair of wins last week by averaging 19.5 points and six rebounds per game on 57.7 percent shooting while going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Pearson shot an even 50 percent, scoring 14 points in 26 minutes against Saint Benedict 1/5. She then helped move the Royals’ win streak to five with a career-high 25 points, knocking down three treys and grabbing a season-high seven boards in a win over St. Olaf 1/8.
MIAC Men’s Hockey Athlete of the Week

Jarod Blackowiak had three goals and an assist in five games during the holiday break, as the No. 4-ranked Auggies went 4-1, with a stretch of four victories in a row. At the Oswego State (N.Y.) Hockey Classic, Blackowiak scored the game-winning goal at the 8:16 mark of the third period in Augsburg’s 2-1 win over host Oswego State on 1/1. Blackowiak figured in both scores, with a goal and assist, in Augsburg’s 2-1 win over UW-River Falls on 1/6, then scored the game-tying goal with 5:02 left in regulation, forcing overtime in Augsburg’s 4-3, come-from-behind win over No. 13-ranked UW-Stevens Point on 1/8.
MIAC Women’s Hockey Athlete of the Week
Chloe Stockinger

Chloe Stockinger stopped 60 of the 64 shots she faced in goal over the weekend for a 0.938 save percentage as the Auggies picked up a pair of non-conference victories over No. 9-ranked Adrian (Mich.). Stockinger had 28 saves on 1/7 in Augsburg’s 5-2 victory, then claimed a career-high 32 saves in Augsburg’s 3-2 victory on 1/8. The sophomore was especially effective in the third period on Saturday, as Adrian outshot Augsburg 14-3 but did not score as the Auggies held on for the win.
