A full weekend of Premier Hockey Federation action got underway with a Friday night matchup between a pair of Founding Four rivals.

Boston Pride 2, Metropolitan Riveters 6

Wearing their widely popular ‘Black Rosie’ jerseys in honor of Black History Month, the Riveters kept their playoff hopes alive with an upset win over Boston. The offense surprised with six goals after being limited to just one in three previous head-to-head losses against the first place team. Loren Gabel put the Pride on the board first with her league-leading 19th goal of the season just 2:14 after puck drop. Fanni Gasparics responded at 4:16 to even the score, then the Riveters took full control with three second period goals by Kendall Cornine, Amanda Pelkey, and Minttu Tuominen who tallied her fourth power play marker of the season to make it 4-1 after 40 minutes. Sammy Davis got one back for Boston before Kelly Babstock picked up a pair inside the final five minutes to bring her team-leading point total to 20. Rachel McQuigge returned from LTIR and made 23 saves for the win in her first start since Nov. 26. Lovisa Selander made her first start of the season for Boston and stopped 20 in defeat. The Riveters trail fourth place Connecticut by 10 points with five games remaining including a critical matchup against the Whale on Sunday. The Pride have a four-point lead over Toronto with four games to play.
