The second match in the Battle of Alberta didn’t have as many goals as Game 1, which was a 9-6 victory for Calgary, but it still delivered plenty of thrills and excitement in what has become must-see entertainment.
Connor McDavid notched one goal and one assist in Friday’s 5-3 victory for Edmonton. He extended his multi-point streak to five straight games. McDavid trails just Wayne Gretzky (8), Tony Currie (7), Darryl Sittler (7), Evgeni Malkin (6) and Dale Hawerchuk (6) for the longest runs of that nature in NHL playoff history. McDavid also became the fastest active player to hit 20 points in a single postseason and the fastest among any player since Mario Lemieux in 1992 after he accomplished the feat in just nine games.
Another milestone was reached in the other matchup of the night in the Stanley Cup Playoffs between the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers. Sebastian Aho scored his 18th career playoff goal to tie Rod Brind’Amour, who serves as head coach of the Hurricanes now, for second place on the franchise’s all-time list. He is just one behind Eric Staal for the top spot.

Antti Raanta turned aside all 21 shots he faced for his career shutout in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Sebastian Aho generated one goal and one assist to power the offense.
Teuvo Teravainen picked up an assist to extend his point streak to three games.
Brett Pesce led all skaters with five blocks.
Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba and Ryan Lindgren co-led the Rangers with three shots on goal apiece
Igor Shesterkin made 20 saves on 21 shots in the loss.

EDMONTON 5 CALGARY 3 – Series tied 1-1
Connor McDavid filled the stat sheet with one goal, one assist, five shots, four hits and one block.
Leon Draisaitl and Duncan Keith accounted for one goal and two assists apiece.
Michael Stone and Brett Ritchie scored three minutes apart to give Calgary an early 2-0 lead.
Tyler Toffoli had the other goal for the Flames during a second-period power play.
Evan Bouchard (power play) and Zach Hyman (shorthanded), who ended up wth the game winner, also lit the lamp for the Oilers.
Johnny Gaudreau contributed two assists, while Evander Kane, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Matthew Tkachuk, Trevor Lewis, Elias Lindholm and Erik Gudbranson got on the scoresheet with one each.
Mike Smith rebounded from a rocky start with 37 saves on 40 shots in the victory. He also assisted on Draisaitl’s goal.
Jacob Markstrom surrendered five goals on 40 shots in the defeat.
