Oilers’ McDavid Finds Something “Nice” to Say About the Flames

by admin

Connor McDavid was asked to give a compliment to the Calgary Flames, something he had a hard time doing considering the Battle of Alberta is one of the most bitter rivalries in hockey.

Playing the part of a good sport and getting a chuckle out of the question, McDavid rolled with the question during an interview but made sure not to offend Oilers fans, who likely wouldn’t have wanted him heaping praise on their rival. He said, “Ha ha, I like their jerseys. They’ve got nice jerseys.”

McDavid is out of action right now with an injury that the Oilers hope is short-term. Speculation is that he’s feeling good and could be back as soon as Saturday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. The Oilers play the Golden Knights on Wednesday, but the Oilers may be rushing things if he’s back in. If the Oilers can win that game, they’ll be 3-1 without their superstar in the lineup.

Meanwhile, the Flames are looking to improve on their 6-5-1 record as they take on the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. They’re 1-3 in their last four games, including a 4-2 loss to the Oilers without McDavid in the game. The Flames are looking for a solid 60-minute effort.

In 42 games versus the Flames in his career, McDavid has 29 goals and 58 points. It’s not likely they have a lot of nice things to say about him either considering he’s torched them in his career.

McDavid might be onto something though. The Flames jerseys are nice and he sure would look good in one.
