The London Knights have nine NHL-affiliated prospects on their roster — Easton Cowan (Toronto), Denver Barkey (Philadelphia), Oliver Bonk (Philadelphia), Sam Dickinson (San Jose), Sam O’Reilly (Edmonton), Jacob Julien (Winnipeg), Jesse Nurmi (Islanders), Jared Woolley (LA Kings), William Nicholl (Edmonton) — and are reportedly about to gain a tenth.
Ex-Sportsnet employee Jeff Marek tweeted Sunday evening that Ottawa Senators prospect Blake Montgomery has left the USHL Lincoln Stars to join London in the OHL.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound forward was selected as an overage player in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft (fourth-round, 117th overall) by the Senators.
“He is a play-driving power winger with speed to burn, shooting skill, vision, and defensive ability. Montgomery’s powerful crossover burst, high pace, and creative handling enable him to get defenders moving in the wrong direction and instantly punish them. He cuts inside, powers behind them on his way to the net, and always goes out of his way to win body positioning,” wrote Elite Prospects in their 2024 NHL Draft Guide.
Montgomery recorded 22 goals and 43 points in 58 games with Lincoln last season. He’s gotten off to a point-per-game start this year with 10 points in 10 games.
Blake is one of potentially many players with NCAA commitments who may make the switch to play in the OHL with the NCAA vote on the eligibility of CHL players taking place on Thursday.
He is committed to play for the University of Wisconsin starting in the 2025-26 season.
Recently, Univeristy of Minnesota commit Hayden Reid signed an OHL Scholarship with the Flint Firebirds, showing that players may have an early inkling of what the ruling will be.
Nothing is confirmed yet and an announcement still needs to be made if Montgomery is indeed joining the OHL and London Knights. For now, this is all speculation.
