The Ottawa Senators have assigned forward Zack Ostapchuk to the Belleville Senators, it was announced Sunday.
Ostapchuk, a 2021 second round pick of the Sens, has spent time in both the NHL and AHL this season. In three games with Ottawa, he collected an assist while putting up a goal and five points through six games with Belleville.
Since turning pro at the beginning of last season, Ostapchuk has appeared in 10 NHL regular season games, with the assist this season being his only NHL point.
Prior to turning pro, Ostapchuk played in the WHL for the Vancouver Giants and the Winnipeg Ice, scoring 69 goals and adding 65 assists for 134 points in 187 games.
Although Ostapchuk was sent back to the AHL, he showed well in his three game stint with Ottawa and will be able to play a big role with Belleville. A gritty forward who can handle his own at both ends of the ice, Ostapchuk should be able to hold down a permanent role with Ottawa in the near future.
