Another entry into our NHL 24 free agency prediction series, today we are predicting where Blake Wheeler will end up playing next season.

Now 37-years-old, Wheeler had an injury plagued season with the Rangers. While he does not have great foot speed he remains an excellent playmaker and should find himself with a team before the season starts.

In our simulation we ensured that Wheeler played 54 games, the same number as real life. In the game he was able to double his real life point total, finishing with 42 points.

Wheeler asked for two-year deal from the Rangers that would pay him $4.150 million a year. He ended up signing a one-year deal worth $4.360 million with the Minnesota Wild.

A native of Plymouth, MN, Wheeler signing with his hometown team would make perfect sense, but it is extremely unlikely he would earn as much as he signed for in NHL 24.

Signing with Minnesota would also allow him to be traded to a contender around the trade deadline if we wanted to chase a Stanley Cup.
