Steelheads’ Callaghan commits to StFX for 2023-24 – Ontario Hockey League

Antigonish, NS – STFX men’s hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce the commitment of Charlie Callaghan for the 2023-24 season.

Charlie was a fan favorite in Mississauga and a very popular teammate,” noted StFX coach Brad Peddle. “He is an intelligent player and a fierce competitor with outstanding work ethic and grit. A great skater who moves the puck very well, he can play in any situation and has a very physical side to his game.”

Peddle continues, “Charlie is also an excellent student and will be joining our BBA program at STFX. He will be an outstanding addition to our group and immediately helps our defence and we look forward to seeing him in blue and white this fall.”

A 5-foot-8, 180lb. left shooting blueliner, Callaghan has competed for the past five seasons with the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL, tallying 55 total points (16-39-55) in 208 games played across four full seasons. The captain of the Steelheads for the 2022-23 season, he added another six points in 20 career OHL playoff games. The native of Toronto, Ont. was voted second overall in the best body checker category and third overall in the hardest worker category amongst OHL coaches this past season.

Callaghan is the second CHL captain the X-Men have added to their defence.
