Fabian Lysell didn’t even need a full period of hockey to score his first career goal for the Providence Bruins.

The Boston Bruins’ top prospect made his AHL debut Friday night against the Bridgeport Islanders and scored 15:26 into the first period on his first career shot on net.

Lysell used great speed through the neutral zone and beat Islanders goaltender Jakub Skarek with a great shot.

In addition to Lysell, Bruins prospect Georgii Merkulov also scored for Providence, as did veteran Chris Wagner as the Bruins earned a 3-0 win in the AHL season opener.

Lysell is an incredibly gifted goal scorer and playmaker. He’s only played one season in North America — 2021-22 with the WHL’s Vancouver Giants — since being drafted by the Bruins in the first round of the 2021 NHL Draft, so it wasn’t too surprising that he started the current campaign in Providence and not Boston.

It’s likely only a matter of time until Lysell gets his first taste of NHL action this season, especially if he keeps producing these kinds of highlights.
