Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan made history, recording a point in his 56th consecutive OHL game with the London Knights on Friday, breaking the unofficial OHL record for most consecutive games with a point.
Cowan reached this milestone after rocketing home a one-timer from teammate Sam Dickinson against the Oshawa Generals to give the Knights a 2-0 lead.
It’s unofficial history — Cowan broke Doug Gilmour’s record for consecutive games with a point, but the OHL won’t officially recognize it, as Cowan’s accomplishment occurred over the span of two seasons. At the time of this filing, Cowan has recorded 15 goals and 28 points in 19 games with the Knights. Last season, Cowan won OHL MVP and OHL Playoff MVP honours, and he’s followed up his tremendous 2024 campaign with a stellar start with the Knights.

As you’d expect, Cowan was mobbed by his teammates upon scoring.

Putting technicalities aside about what constitutes a record, Gilmour congratulated Cowan on the tremendous accomplishment. Gilmour recorded a point in 55 consecutive games with the now-defunct Cornwall Royals during the 1982-83 campaign. We don’t need to go through Gilmour’s legendary NHL career, but we may as well, where he became one of the defining Maple Leafs of the past 50 years, winning the Selke Trophy in 1993. Gilmour was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011 and his No. 93 has been retired by the Maple Leafs.
Congratulations Easton Cowan such an impressive streak. Keep going bud!

Cowan could potentially graduate to the NHL on a permanent basis next season, as he’s made a stellar impression in each of his first two training camps. He is expected to be one of the focal points of Canada’s World Juniors team, where he’s considered a lock to return for the second consecutive season. It’s shaping up to be a very eventful December for Cowan and breaking the unofficial OHL record, while gaining the approval of a Maple Leafs legend seems like a good omen at the very least.
