Former Vegas Golden Knights third-round pick, Layton Ahac, signs with the Abbotsford Canucks, Vancouver’s AHL affiliate.

The Golden Knights selected Ahac with the 86th overall pick in the 2019 draft but never panned out with the team. He spent his entire Golden Knights career in the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights.

The 23-year-old 148 games with the Silver Knights scoring just one goal and 17 points and never receiving a call-up to the NHL.

The North Vancouver native played two years in the NCAA with Ohio State University before signing his entry-level contract with the Golden Knights in 2021.

Listed at 6’2, 205 lbs, the left-handed defenseman has never been known for his offensive game even going back to his time in the BCHL where he scored 10 goals and 61 points in 110 games.

Ahac is known for his defensive play, playing significant minutes for the Silver Knights on the penalty kill this season and should provide Abbotsford with more depth on the blue line.
