It’s been a bit of a tough go to start the season for Ryan Reaves in his second year with the Toronto Maple Leafs, with one assist and no fights in 14 games to start the year. But as fans have come to learn about him, he usually finds his way into the headlines in other ways, whether that be in the form of some sort of on-ice entertainment or a joke in the media scrum.
This time, it was one of those instances that makes you stop and think “Have I ever seen this happen before?”.
The dasher board ad got stuck to Ryan Reaves and he skated down the ice with it 🤣 pic.twitter.com/Sz3DE0GoVt

Reaves was on a shift and heading back towards his own end after a brush-up along the boards and managed to take a piece of the boards with him, making it a fair bit down the ice before it fell off after he crossed his own blue line.
A player brushing up along the boards, accidentally ripping off part of the board advertisement and skating half the length of the ice with it attached to his pants like a cape. For it to not only come detached but to somehow lodge its way onto him and gracefully fly behind his back like some sort of ice-themed superhero is a funny sight to see, and one that almost certainly will find its way into the hockey memes circuit.
Reaves is skating on the fourth line with Steven Lorentz and Connor Dewar and may find his job in jeopardy when Auston Matthews and eventually Max Pacioretty and Calle Jarnkrok are set to return, but it’s been clear that his presence in the locker room is a major factor in his ice time. While it’s hard to imagine him being a regular towards the end of the season and into the playoffs, especially after eventual trade deadline moves are made, he’s more than likely got a spot in the Leafs locker room for the rest of the season and perhaps his contract.
